The crowd at the Clinton Presidential Library stood and cheered wildly during Barack Obama’s introduction and remained standing throughout much of the inaugural ceremony.
Some called out to Obama as he delivered his speech, shouting encouragement and praise on as though he could hear them: All right! Say it! Yes! There were tears, and nods, and hugs.
With cellphones and digital cameras, many in the crowd snapped photos of the TV screen, trying to capture the historic moment by taking pictures of the live footage broadcast by CNN.
