Ayers Speaks Out on Campaign ‘08 and His Tie to Obama

 
Susan Davis reports on politics. William Ayers gave a lengthy interview on ABC’s “Good Morning America” today about his relationship with President-elect Barack Obama and the role that tie played in the 2008 presidential campaign. Ayers has broken his silence since Obama won the presidential election last Tuesday. During the campaign, Ayers had refused all interview requests. Ayers, a founder of the 1960s radical group the Weather Underground, was a constant point of attack against Obama from Republicans in general and John McCain and Sarah Palin in particular. Palin’s oft-quoted line against Obama was that he was a man who would “pal around with terrorists.” Ayers once hosted a fund-raiser for Obama at his Chicago home when Obama was launching his political career, and the two sat on a board together for an education foundation. Today, Ayers is a college professor and an active member in the Chicago civic community. Ayers had repeatedly declined all interview requests ... (link)
