Burris defended his decision Wednesday.
CHICAGO, Illinois (CNN) – The man appointed by embattled Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich to fill President-elect Barack Obama's Senate seat repeated Wednesday that the governor's alleged criminal activities are "reprehensible," but should not affect his own opportunity to serve the state as senator.

From NBC's Domenico MontanaroU.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald has asked for an extension to indict Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich, AP reports.
The extension would give Fitzgerald another 90 days, and would take this into April.
