In a sign of the hostility that the U.S. presence in Iraq continues to generate, a local journalist threw his shoes at President Bush a gesture of contempt in Iraqi cultureduring a news conference with Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki. The man, identified as a reporter for the Al-Baghdadia TV channel, called Mr. Bush you dog, and added, This is from the widows, the orphans and those who were killed in Iraq. He was quickly overpowered by security agents in a chaotic scene. When the news conference resumed, Mr. Bush, who successfully ducked the projectiles, noted other Iraqi journalists in the room had apologized.
