Commerce Secretary, Anyone?

 
Jonathan Weisman reports on the transition. Add Michigan Gov. Jennifer Granholm to the list of Democrats not interested in the Commerce secretary cabinet post after New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson withdrew his name from consideration on Sunday. Granholm told Washington Wire today that she has again told the Obama transition team that she intends to remain governor. Richardson’s sudden withdrawal had raised expectations that Granholm would be brought into the cabinet. She had already turned down the post of Labor secretary, but it was thought the Commerce slot would be enticing. No dice. “I have told them I want to stay as governor,” she said in an interview. Granholm is joining a growing list of Democrats voicing their disinterest in the job. A spokeswoman for California Rep. Xavier Becerra —who earlier turned down the post of U.S. Trade Representative— told Politico on Tuesday that he was not interested either. Becerra, like Richardson, is a well-known and ... (link)
