Convention Outlook: Clinton in the Spotlight, Kennedy Passes Torch

 
Susan Davis reports from Denver on the Democratic convention. (Associated Press) The Democratic National Convention is about Barack Obama , but today it’s also about Hillary Clinton . The New York senator is not tonight’s keynote speaker—that distinction is for U.S. Senate candidate Mark Warner of Virginia—but her presence is undeniable in Denver and anticipation is high for her primetime speaking gig. Few moments at this convention, however, are likely to rival Sen. Ted Kennedy ’s unscheduled speech Monday night, which has been cast as a “passing of the torch” of the Kennedy legacy to Obama. With thousands of delegate cheering and holding signs that simply said, “Kennedy,” the ailing Massachusetts senator—diagnosed with brain cancer in May– sought to capture the same spirit aligned with former President John F.
