Convention Outlook: Michelle Obama, Kennedy Tribute, Del. Upgraded

 
Susan Davis reports from Denver on the Democratic convention . The Democratic National Convention kicks off today at the Pepsi Center in Denver, Colo. (AP) The Democratic convention formally kicks off today at 3 p.m. MDT/5 p.m. EDT at the Pepsi Center in Denver with “One Nation” the banner theme for the day. Barack Obama ’s wife, Michelle , will give today’s keynote convention speech with convention chairwoman and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and former President Jimmy Carter also slated for prime-time. And while Republicans have Sen. Joe Lieberman speaking at their convention next week, former Iowa Republican Rep. Jim Leach will speak today at the Democratic convention. An eight-minute video tribute to Massachusetts Sen. Edward Kennedy , produced by documentary filmmakers Ken Burns and Mark Herzog , will premiere tonight following an introduction by Kennedy’s niece and Obama running-mate vetter, Caroline Kennedy .
