Convention Outlook: Palin Addresses Convention Wednesday

 
Susan Davis reports from St. Paul, Minn., on the Republican convention. Republicans will formally nominate John McCain as their presidential candidate tonight and his running mate, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin , will speak to the delegates in a highly anticipated prime-time address. (Associated Press) Palin’s speech comes a day after the campaign canceled her public appearances and combated media outlets scrutinizing her family life and public service record. Campaign surrogates have fanned out to defend Palin’s ability to serve as president—a particularly salient argument in light of McCain’s age. He is 72 years old. Former McCain primary rival and New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani appeared on the morning shows touting Palin’s record. Asked on ABC’S “Good Morning America” if he would have been confident if Palin was president on Sept. 11, 2001, he said, “I’d be confident that she’d be able to handle it. She’s been a governor of a state, she’s been mayor of a city.” Giuliani ... (link)
