Democratic Coalition Ad Targets Five GOP Senators on Stimulus

 
Susan Davis reports on politics. A coalition of Democratic groups will air a series of ads urging Republican senators in Maine, New Hampshire, Alaska, and Iowa to vote for the nearly $900 billion economic stimulus package when it comes up for a vote, which is expected next week. The ads target Maine Sens. Susan Collins and Olympia Snowe , as well as New Hampshire Sen. Judd Gregg , Alaska Sen. Lisa Murkowski , and Iowa Sen. Charles Grassley . Gregg, Murkowski, and Grassley are all up for re-election in 2010. The 30 second ad, “Factory,” features President Barack Obama discussing the economy in previous remarks as the voice-over. “We start 2009 in the midst of a crisis unlike any we have seen in our lifetime. That is why I have moved quickly on an American Recovery and Reinvestment plan,” Obama says in the ad, “A plan I am confident will save or create at least three million jobs. The first job of my Administration is to put people back to work and get our economy ... (link)
