Democrats Set Up ‘War Room’ for GOP Convention

 
Stephanie Simon reports from Denver on the Democratic convention. The Democratic National Convention still has two days to go, but already some Democratic partisans are turning their attention toward the Republican gathering next week in St. Paul, Minn. Democratic operatives on Wednesday released details of their plans for a “war room” to counter the Republican message as the GOP gathers to nominate Sen. John McCain . Their press release is full of taunting one-upmanship. For instance: The Republican war room in Denver is a mile away from the convention hall. In the Twin Cities, Democrats have secured space for their operation just across the street. Republicans have been staging daily news conferences with big-name GOP politicians. Democrats plan a similar offensive — only their news conferences will include free breakfast.
