The Situation: Politicos and prognosticators revised their forecasts for Minnesota’s 6th Congressional District race after incumbent Republican Michele Bachmann , in an MSNBC “Hardball” interview, questioned presidential candidate Barack Obama ’s patriotism and that of top congressional Democrats. She went on to urge the media to do “an expose” on whether lawmakers were “pro-America or anti-America.” The result: Bachmann’s poll numbers plunged and campaign funds flooded in for her opponent, Elwyn Tinklenberg , a former state transportation commissioner.
The Republican: Rep. Michele Bachmann, a first-term lawmaker, was expected to easily win re-election before her “Hardball” remarks. The former state senator won her House seat in this conservative district in 2006 despite the Democratic wave, a ...
