The Situation: The only thing more satisfying than a rematch is a rematch brokered by lawyers. Republican Dino Rossi , who lost to incumbent Christine Gregoire in 2004 by just 129 votes after a third recount, challenges the governor again. Rossi went to court this year to demand that his party affiliation be listed as “GOP” on the ballot, rather than Republican. Democrats pounced, accusing him of trying to avoid being hurt by the party’s the low approval ratings. Add accusations that Rossi illegally coordinated campaign activities with an industry association and polls showing a dead heat, and it looks like lawyers will be refereeing once again.
