Obama may announce Afghanistan plans as early as next week. Among the goals: "getting rid of terrorist safe havens in Pakistan and adopting a regional approach to reducing the threat of terrorism and extremism in both countries." The plan is expected to scale back U.S. expectations on Afghan democracy and will outline goals for the next three to five years.
