Inauguration Watch: How Not to Get Lost in D.C.

 
Brad Haynes reports on the inauguration. Where am I? Where’s the nearest place to eat? How can I get there? Where can I park? Is it safe? With these questions running through their heads, intrepid inauguration-goers can turn to their cell phones, with a new mobile application designed specifically for navigating the confusion descending on Washington next week. The Navigating Washington program, designed for iPhone and Blackberry, can use your phone’s GPS to find the nearest Starbucks, parking garage and restaurants – and then find you the nearest ATM to pay for it all. The application also provides real-time updates on traffic, weather, nearby crime and other news in your area. Users can also check a running calendar of inaugural events – public and private, sold out or otherwise – and gauge other users’ thoughts about them.
