It’s Not Over, But is it Over?

 
Susan Davis reports on the presidential election. The networks and pundits are hedging their bets, but the presidential race between Barack Obama and John McCain has come down to a simple game of math, and the numbers are decisively in Obama’s favor. As of 10:30 p.m. EST Obama leads McCain in the electoral vote tally 207-138, and California’s 55 electoral votes are expected to be add to Obama’s column when polls close there at 11:00 p.m. EST, which would increase his total to 262 electoral votes and put him within striking distance of the White House. At that point, Obama just needs to win one or more of the following battlegrounds to become the first African-American president of the United States: Colorado (9 votes), New Mexico (5 votes), Oregon (7 votes), Washington (11 votes), Nevada (5 votes).
