Joe the Plumber Stands Up John McCain

 
Laura Meckler reports from Defiance, Ohio, on the presidential race. Joe the Plumber is big. So big that it appeared he had something better to do when the man who made him famous came to a town about an hour away from Joe’s hometown. At a rally today, John McCain was finishing his riff on how Joe, also known as Samuel Joseph Wurzelbacher , had gotten Barack Obama to say that he wants to “spread the wealth around.” At that point, he went looking for Joe. “Joe’s with us today,” McCain said. “Joe where are you? Where is Joe? Is Joe here with us today? Joe, I thought you were here today.” John McCain reacts to the crowd as he speaks at a rally at Defiance Junior High School in Defiance, Ohio.
