Caroline Kennedy praised her uncle, Massachusetts Sen. Edward Kennedy , and Barack Obama as two men who have changed my life and said leaders like them come along once in a lifetime.
The daughter of former President John F. Kennedy was part of Obamas vice presidential vetting team and was a key early backer of the Illinois senator. Tonight, in a rare moment in the public spotlight, she drew a parallel between Obama and the former president.
Everywhere I go voters tell me Barack Obama makes them feel hopeful like my father did when he was president, she said. Introducing a video tribute to Sen. Kennedy, she praised her uncle by saying there is no greater champion of Obamas candidacy and vowing that the Democratic nominee will have no stronger partner if elected to the White House.
