McCain Ad Appeals to Clinton Supporters

 
Susan Davis reports from Denver on the presidential race. In his latest campaign ad, John McCain is doing his best to underscore the divide in the Democratic ranks with Hillary Clinton ’s supporters. The new spot, “Debra,” features Debra Bartoshevich , a Clinton supporter touting her support for McCain. “I’m a proud Hillary Clinton Democrat. She had the experience and judgment to be president. Now, in a first for me, I’m supporting a Republican,” Bartoshevich says in the ad, which does not directly reference Barack Obama . “I respect [McCain’s] maverick and independent streak, and now he’s the one with the experience and judgment. A lot of Democrats will vote for McCain. It’s okay, really!” A spokesman for McCain said the ad will run in Denver markets this week during the Democratic convention, as well as in Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia, and national cable as part of their rotation.
