McCain Backers Turn Out to Vote in Philadelphia Suburbs

 
Nick Timiraos reports from Chester Springs, Pa., on Election Day. Sen. John McCain ’s hope for an upset win in Pennsylvania rested largely on holding off Sen. Barack Obama in the Philadelphia suburbs with support from voters like Richard Cresnick , a 53-year-old radiologist from Chester Springs, Pa. “A straight Democratic, far-left conglomeration of what we’re going to have is the wrong thing at the wrong time,” said the McCain voter. “I’ve never seen a man make so many promises he’s got to give back to so many people.” Cresnick said he didn’t buy into Obama’s message of change, though he did acknowledge being a liberal in his youth who supported Jesse Jackson and Eugene McCarthy . “This is a very leftist leaning candidate. He’s not a centrist at all,” he said of Obama. He said the Democratic nominee’s proposals to rely more heavily on alternative energy were unrealistic. “We have a fossil-fuel based economy whether we want to admit it or not, and windmills are not going to change ...
