McCain Compares Obama to God in Latest Web Attack

John McCain ’s campaign is dialing up its latest line of attack—“But can he lead?”–against Barack Obama , which seeks to use Obama’s own popularity and oratory skills against him. The argument: Obama is at heart an arrogant leader who believes he has been anointed to the presidency. It’s a message McCain began pressing early on. Initially, he was subtle about it. The night Obama clinched the Democratic nomination, June 3, McCain said: “I don’t seek the presidency on the presumption I’m blessed with such personal greatness that history has anointed me to save my country in its hour of need. I seek the office with the humility of a man who cannot forget my country saved me.” But if McCain was suggesting then that Obama was casting himself as God-like, the campaign is making it crystal clear now.
