McCain Focuses on Experience

John McCain made his experience the theme of his speech at a rally here Saturday with this confident declaration: “My friends, I know the world, I know the world and I know how to make it safe.” The Republican presidential candidate held his first of two rallies in this swing state, where he faces considerable competition from Democratic contender Barack Obama . Attendance at the rally Saturday morning was less than encouraging. Only several hundred people came to the New Mexico State Fairgrounds to hear McCain speak. As he has in recent days, McCain hit Obama’s running mate, Joe Biden , for comments he made about the possibility of an “international crisis” during Obama’s first six months in office. “My friends, I have been tested. They may want to test Obama, Senator Obama, I’ve been tested. I’m going to test them. They’re not going to test me,” McCain said. “We can’t spend the next four years as we have spent ... (link)
