McCain Gets Grilled on ‘The View’ Over Palin

If John McCain was hoping to cruise through his fifth appearance on “The View,” he was in for a surprise Friday. Within seconds of walking on the set, the Republican presidential nominee was grilled by the co-hosts of the ABC morning show over his choice of Sarah Palin as running mate and his claims that together they will reform Washington. “I don’t see the old John McCain who used to buck the system as much, I understand why. You want to get elected,” said co-host Joy Behar. “I’m the same person that I always was,” McCain answered. Behar also accused McCain of spreading “lies” in his latest TV ads, one of which accused Barack Obama of smearing Palin by using the phrase “lipstick on a pig.” “You yourself used the same expression,” co-host Barbara Walters said.
