‘McCain,’ ‘Obama’ Will Race in New Jersey’s Running of the Roaches

Can a race between two cockroaches predict who’ll come out on top in November’s presidential election? Probably not, but that won’t stop a New Jersey group from holding its 14th running of the roaches Thursday. Madagascar hissing cockroaches will be used to represent John McCain and Barack Obama. The New Jersey Pest Management Association will hold the race during its annual clinic and trade show in New Brunswick. Past results include a roach representing Al Gore winning by an antennae, which the association says shows the roaches were as confused as the American public about the 2000 Electoral College process. While the group acknowledges there’s no evidence roaches can predict anything, it says it hopes the race creates excitement about the work pest control professionals perform. (link)
