McCain Supporters Give Palin Mixed Reviews

 
Elizabeth Holmes reports from Phoenix on the presidential race. What happens to Sarah Palin ? The John McCain supporters who had gathered in Phoenix to watch the Republican nominee concede the race to Barack Obama had mixed emotions on the governor from Alaska. With her future in the Republican Party unclear, Republicans had different ideas for what she brought to the ticket—and what she didn’t. Many praised Palin’s enthusiasm. Carlin Crowder , a 29-year-old from Blacksburg, Va., volunteered for the campaign and said Palin gave them significant energy. “We haven’t seen people in my opinion as motivated and excited about the Republican Party since Reagan,” he said. “She’s energized the base unlike any other in decades, literally.” Others thought she slowed McCain down. Patrick Joyce , a 39-year-old commercial banker, said that at the time she was picked, “McCain was so far behind, I think he had to throw the bomb, the touchdown pass, I think he was looking for instant ...
