McCain to Congratulate Obama in Campaign Ad Tonight

 
Susan Davis reports from Denver on the Democratic National Convention. Both Barack Obama and John McCain have pledged to change the partisan tone in Washington, and McCain will take a step toward that end in a congratulatory ad, “Convention Night,” to air this evening on national cable and battleground states. “Senator Obama, this is truly a good day for America. Too often the achievements of our opponents go unnoticed. So I wanted to stop and say, congratulations,” McCain says in the ad, “How perfect that your nomination would come on this historic day. Tomorrow, we’ll be back at it. But tonight senator, job well done.” Obama’s nomination address occurs on the 45th anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. ’s “I Have a Dream” speech. McCain is expected to announce his running mate on Friday, just before the Republican convention kicks off in St. Paul, Minn. Recent speculation has focused heavily on Minnesota Gov.
