Its de rigueur these days for presidential candidates to publish books about themselves. But John McCain is getting some backup from his daughter Meghan, who has written a glossy, illustrated childrens book, My Dad, John McCain. It comes out Sept. 2, two days before her father will accept the Republican Party’s nomination for president.
John McCain s own books, co-authored with longtime aide Mark Salter , include a healthy dose of introspection with anecdotes both flattering and confessional. Not so for Meghans book, which includes passages like, My father loves this country more than anyone I know.
The book covers some of the most challenging moments in her dads life, such as a devastating fire on the Forrestal, an aircraft carrier on which he served during the Vietnam War.
