Susan Davis reports on Congress.
Freshman Nebraska Republican Sen. Mike Johanns is undergoing surgery today on his left lung after a spot was found during a Nov. 25 physical.
His spokeswoman called it a cautionary step and that part of the senators lower lobe of his lung may be removed to screen for cancer. The surgery is being performed at Virginia Hospital Center in Arlington, Va., and the senator is expected to return to work in two weeks.
A former Nebraska governor and secretary of agriculture in the Bush cabinet, Johanns won the seat formerly held by Republican Sen. Chuck Hagel , who retired in 2008.
