No 'red meat' in sight

 
From NBC/NJ's Carrie Dann MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. -- If last night's convention address by Sarah Palin was red meat, then this afternoon's luncheon homage to Cindy McCain was more, well, grilled free-range chicken with truffle, apple vinaigrette. In contrast to last night's spirited, zinger-laced remarks by McCain's running mate, the GOP nominee's wife today offered a serene thanks to supporters and a gentle reminder of her husband's honor and service during remarks to 1,500 backers at a tribute luncheon. "He is truly, truly a different cut, because he has never at any time put anything ahead of his country," she said of her husband, saying that "tears well up" in her eyes when she sees him on stage in front of audiences inspired by his service.  "I truly believe that my husband's not a man for all times, but he's a man for these times," she added.
