Barack Obama kept up his criticism of a remark John McCain made Monday about the economy’s underlying strength.
Today, the Democratic candidate rolled out a new ad that seeks to paint his Republican opponent as out of touch with most Americans as they face turbulent economic times.
McCain reacted to the financial crisis Monday with remarks that began, you know that theres been tremendous turmoil in our financial markets in Wall Street and
people are frightened by these events. Our economy, I think, still, the fundamentals of our economy are strong but these are very, very difficult times.
The ad begins by flashing a series of headlines on the screen: September 15, 2008, Lehman Brothers Collapses, Markets In Turmoil, Job Losses at 605,000 for the Year, and Foreclosures at 9,800 a Day. The advertisement then cuts to McCains remarks: Our economy, I think, still, the fundamentals are strong.
