Barack Obama campaigned with running mate Joe Biden for the first time since he named the Delaware senator as his vice presidential pick last month.
The duo held a joint rally at an outdoor train station in Greensboro where they both took the stage to slam Republican rival John McCain ’s performance in Friday night’s presidential debate.
“This was supposed to be John McCains turf and Barack Obama owned it last night,” Biden said of the first debate, which was largely focused on foreign policy.
Biden cited Obama’s early opposition to the Iraq War and his long-time insistence that military efforts be focused in Afghanistan instead as proof that Obama is best prepared to be commander in chief. “We need more than a great soldier, we need a wise leader,” Biden said as he introduced the Illinois senator.
