Obama and McCain Meet in Chicago

Susan Davis reports on the transition. Former presidential rivals Barack Obama and John McCain met face to face in Chicago today, less than two weeks after Election Day. President-elect Barack Obama meets with John McCain at Obama’s transition headquarters in Chicago on Monday. (AP) “We’re going to have a good conversation about how we can do some work together to fix up the country, and also to offer thanks to Sen. McCain for the outstanding service he’s already rendered,” the president-elect said when asked about the goal of the meeting. Asked if he would be helpful to the Obama administration, McCain said, “Obviously.” The two former rivals, sitting around a coffee table with three U.S. flags behind them, were flanked by South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham , a close friend and ally of McCain, and Rep. Rahm Emanuel of Illinois, who Obama recently tapped to serve as White House chief of staff.
