Obama Asks Grassroots to Help Pass $3.6 Trillion Budget

 
President Barack Obama is going beyond the halls of Congress seeking help to pass his $3.6 trillion budget. In a video message sent to his supports, the president is asking citizens to build grassroots support for his spending blueprint that former campaign manager David Plouffe describes as not “the same old document Washington has come to expect year after year.” Plouffe asks supporters to “talk with everyone you know” this weekend about Obama’s plan, and encourages them to contact their congressional representatives to voice support for the plan. In the video, Obama suggests campaign style tactics to build support for the budget. He asks supporters to “head outside this Saturday to knock on some doors, talk to some neighbors, and let them know how important this budget is to our future.” Obama pledges that the budget will “lay a foundation for lasting growth and prosperity” for its investments in health care, education, and energy. “This budget is first and foremost ...
