Obama Campaign Eyes Upset Georgia Win

 
Alex Roth and Stephanie Chen report from Atlanta on the presidential race. At Barack Obama ’s Georgia campaign headquarters in Atlanta, workers were abuzz over recent polls showing the state was within striking distance for their candidate. Signs on the walls announced, “Georgia is now a toss-up state!” and “We are counting on you to turn Georgia blue.” A massive sign near the entrance announced the number of state residents who had already cast ballots: 1,994,990, according to the Obama tally. The Obama campaign has set up more than two dozen offices in Georgia, with 10,000 volunteers going door-to-door and making phone calls encouraging people to vote. The campaign will have 175 staging areas throughout Georgia on Election Day, with campaign workers arranging rides for people who can’t get to the polls on their own. Georgia state Democratic Rep.
