Obama Celebrates Biden’s Birthday

Elizabeth Holmes reports on the transition. The string of releases from President-elect Barack Obama’s office of late have been super serious. Most days he holds “no public events” and the only word that comes out of his meetings is a list of the assorted world leaders he calls. Lest the American public think the soon-to-be commander-in-chief is not a fun guy, his transition office Wednesday released what they described as “fun/color” from the day. The “PE”—short for president-elect, Washington Wire assumes—celebrated the birthday of the “VPE” Joe Biden . Biden will turn 66 on Thursday but Obama celebrated a day early, before the team’s weekly lunch. Obama lit candles on a dozen cupcakes for his second-in-command and led the staff in a rendition of “Happy Birthday,” according to the transition office. In addition, Obama also gave Biden some gifts: “A Chicago White Sox Hat, a Chicago Bears Hat and a bucket of Garrett’s popcorn.” (link)
