Obama, DNC Plan $20 Million Hispanic Voter Outreach Effort

 
Susan Davis reports on the presidential race. Barack Obama ’s presidential campaign and the Democratic National Committee announced an “unprecedented” $20 million joint outreach effort today to mobilize Hispanic voters heading in to the fall. The money will be targeted towards advertising, voter registration, and get-out-the-vote efforts between now and Election Day. The announcement comes after the Pew Hispanic Center released a survey July 24 that showed Obama with a commanding 66%-23% lead over Republican rival John McCain among registered Hispanic voters nationwide. Obama’s 76% favorability rating among Hispanics was also considerably higher than McCain’s 44% rating. “The [Obama] campaign has a 50 state strategy, and the Latino campaign will mirror that 50 state strategy,” Frank Sanchez , chair of Obama’s National Hispanic Leadership Council, told reporters.
