Obama Expects $10M Haul on Final Day of GOP Convention

 
Democrat Barack Obama raised $8 million in the day after Sarah Palin delivered her Republican vice presidential acceptance speech Wednesday night and the campaign said it expects to hit $10 million by the time John McCain accepts his party’s nomination Thursday night. The money comes from 130,000 donors, including those who have previously contributed. Obama raised $50 million in July but campaign officials have not released its August fundraising totals. McCain raised at least $47 million in August, his biggest monthly haul so far and a sign that he has dispelled doubts about his campaign among conservative donors. The campaigns do not have to submit their August financial reports to the Federal Election Commission until Sept. 20. McCain’s campaign said Monday that it had raised $10 million since McCain announced the Alaska governor as his running mate on Friday.
