Obama Makes a Surprise Appearance

 
Susan Davis reports from Denver inside the convention hall. Barack Obama wasn’t scheduled to appear at the Democratic convention until Thursday night but he showed a little leg Wednesday, joining running mate Joe Biden on stage in an unannounced appearance at the conclusion of his remarks. “I just wanted to come here for a little something to say,” Obama told the delegates, who roared as he appeared on stage. He credited his wife, Michelle , for kicking off the convention Monday night, and thanked both Hillary and Bill Clinton . “If I’m not mistaken, Hillary Clinton rocked the house last night,” he said. The convention will move to Invesco Stadium at Mile Hile Thursday night. Obama explained his reasoning for moving venues. “At the start of this campaign we had a very simple idea–that change doesn’t start from the top down, it’s starts from the bottom up.” Democrats are opening the convention doors to allow more people in to see Obama speak—some 75,000 people are ...
