Obama Praises Democrats for Quick Work on Stimulus

 
Susan Davis reports from Williamsburg, Va., on the House Democrats’ retreat. In his effort to keep momentum behind passage of the economic stimulus package, President Barack Obama credited House Democrats for swift action on the package but cautioned that much work still needed to be done. “All of you acted with a discipline that matches the urgency and the gravity of the crisis that we face,” Obama told the roughly 200 members of the House Democratic Caucus gathered here at the Kingsmill Resort for their annual retreat. “You went to work, you did your job. For that your have my appreciation and admiration and more important you have the American people’s.” The U.S. Senate could vote on the package tonight, and Obama urged Democrats to move swiftly in conference to get a bill on his desk.
