After the Dow closed just above 8,000 on Friday, the markets opened at 8,200 today and climbed to 8,370 by the start of the press conference at noon eastern time. Without any new names or big news, though, Obamas comments provided no new fuel for the rallying Dow, which had eased back to about 8,250 by the time he left the stage.
