Barack Obama says he’s chosen his running mate — but he’s not telling who it is.
The presumptive Democratic presidential nominee told USA Today Thursday afternoon that he has made up his mind on his No. 2, with the Democratic National Convention just days away. He would not say whether he’s told that person.
“I won’t comment on anything else until I introduce our running mate to the world,” he said. “That’s all you’re going to get out of me.”
Obama is expected to head to Springfield, Ill., Saturday for a joint appearance with his running mate. It’s not clear whether he’ll announce his selection before the weekend.
“We had some great choices,” Obama told USA Today, adding he was looking for someone “prepared to be president.”
Delaware Sen. Joe Biden, Indiana Sen. Evan Bayh, Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine and Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius are seen as top prospects.
