Obama Taps McKinsey & Co.

 
Laura Meckler reports on the Obama transition. When President-elect Barack Obama tapped Nancy Killefer for the newly created post of “chief performance officer,” he was merely opening the bidding on McKinsey & Co., the management consulting firm. In the coming days, he is expected to tap a second McKinsey director for the White House. Diana Farrell , director of the McKinsey Global Institute, the firm’s in-house think tank, is expected to be named deputy director of the National Economic Council. She would share the post with Jason Furman , who directed economic policy for the Obama campaign. A number of officials with McKinsey connections also are serving on transition teams that are reviewing the status of federal agencies for the incoming president. According to Farrell’s McKinsey biography , her work has appeared in academic journals and op-ed pages, and she is a frequent speaker at major U.S. and global conferences. She is the editor of an ...
