Obama Targets Middle Class With Latest Economic Plan

 
Corey Dade reports from Toledo, Ohio, on the presidential race. Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama Monday morning rolled out a new set of economic proposals targeting the middle class, including a measure to allow families to withdraw a portion of their retirement savings over the next two years without paying a tax penalty. Obama plans to discuss the plan this afternoon at a rally in Toledo, Ohio, where he is preparing for the final debate against Republican nominee John McCain on Wednesday. Ohio is one of the states where the Obama campaign has been spending more time and money than the McCain campaign. A new Marist College Poll found that Obama has a narrow 49% to 45% lead over McCain among likely Ohio voters, including those who are undecided but leaning toward a candidate. The Obama plan also calls for a temporary tax credit on companies that add jobs over the next two years and a 90-day moratorium on home foreclosures by banks that receive assistance from ... (link)
