Palin Gets Noticed — On Facebook

 
Sara Murray reports on the presidential race. The merits of Sarah Palin ’s speech are being debated, but it clearly accomplished one thing: it got her a lot of new Facebook supporters. Because Washington Wire loves to track Facebook, we noted on Wednesday that the Alaska governor and Democratic vice presidential pick had only some 3,000 supporters. This afternoon, the Sarah Palin, VP page is up to 15,000-something supporters. So what does this mean? Maybe nothing. But the notion that 44-year-old Palin might give young voters a candidate they can identify with – and therefore help the McCain ticket – is cropping up on the Web. “Others are suggesting that Palin’s youth will serve as a contrast to Barack Obama and therefore draw young (and by young they mean young male) voters to the Republican Party,” writes Chris Nolan on Spot-on.com . “The thinking here is that they’ll vote for Palin who is, as various gossip website observed, very attractive.”  ...
