Palin Takes the Fight to Biden’s Hometown

 
Elizabeth Holmes reports from Scranton, Pa., on the presidential race. GOP vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin didn’t let her itinerary stop her attack lines Tuesday, even if it meant going after her Democratic counterpart in his hometown or slamming Wall Street greed just hours before a Manhattan fund-raiser. John McCain ’s running mate held a rally here in battleground Pennsylvania with a crowd of about 5,000. The Alaska governor had some fighting words for the Democratic vice-presidential candidate, Delaware Sen. Joe Biden, who grew up in Scranton. As part of her riff on energy policy, Palin said, “Joe Biden had said that there’s no such thing as clean coal when we talked about clean-coal technology that’s needed.” The crowd booed. “Biden also has called environmentally friendly offshore drilling, he’s called it raping the outer continental shelf,” she said to more boos.
