Presidential Debate, Finally, Gets Heated

(AP) In a 10-minute span, rivals John McCain and Barack Obama verbally sparred over several hot-button issues that have fueled the negative tone of the presidential campaign in recent weeks. As expected, McCain played the Bill Ayers card, offering that “all of the details need to be known” about the Illinois senator’s ties to the former 1960s radical turned college professor and community activist. “Let’s get the record straight,” Obama replied. “Mr. Ayers is not involved in my campaign. He has never been involved in this campaign, and he will not advise me in the White House.” “Let me tell you who I associated with,” Obama countered ticking off Warren Buffett , running mate Joe Biden , Republican Sen.
