Republican Rep. Michelle Bachmann won re-election in Minnesota, illustrating that although Democrats netted gains in the House, the blue tidal wave that some predicted didnt materialize. Republicans lost fewer seats this year than in 2006, and several embattled incumbents managed to stay afloat.

Bachmann gained notoriety in the weeks before the election over an interview on MSNBC’s “Hardball,” where she told host Chris Matthews that many of Barack Obama ’s associates, as well as many of her colleagues in Congress, could be characterized as anti-American.
