Republican Governors Praise Obama

 
Many of the Republican governors meeting in Miami this week have gone out of their way to praise President-elect Barack Obama and his fellow Democrats. On Thursday, Sarah Palin told the Republican Governors Association that “Sen. Obama has achieved a great thing.’’ The Alaska governor and former vice-presidential candidate, whose criticism of the Illinois Democrat was a staple of her campaign speeches, provided equal-opportunity compliments, praising her running-mate, Sen. John McCain , and President George W. Bush , whose low approval ratings hurt Republican candidates this year. Palin was far from the only one. As Republicans used the Republican Governors Association meeting to do some soul-searching in the face of big Democratic wins on Election Day, many used the opportunity to admonished colleagues to work to prevent the GOP from becoming “the party of no,’’ as Louisiana Gov.
