Rice warns Hamas against violence

From NBC’s Libby Leist At a press conference with the Mexican Foreign Minister this morning, Secretary Rice warned Hamas against resuming violence after ending its six-month truce with Israel.   Rice said more violence would not help the people of Gaza and it would only "deliver deeper misery" in the Gaza strip.   Rice reiterated that President Abbas has the support of the international community to negotiate for a two-state solution and more violence by Hamas was not working in favor of the Palestinian people.   The Palestinian-Israeli peace process has slipped on the list of priorities for an Obama administration -- with the economy taking precedent in addition to Iraq and Afghanistan -- but it’s one that will have to be dealt with. ...( read more ) (link)
