Special Interest Groups Release New Ads in Battleground States

 
Brody Mullins reports on the presidential race. Even though the presidential campaign is almost squarely focused on the economy, special interest groups continue to use social issues to try to sway the electorate. The conservative Judicial Confirmation Network started running television advertisements today in Ohio and parts of Pennsylvania and West Virginia reminding voters that electing Barack Obama would likely shift the balance on the Supreme Court toward the left. Without mentioning Obama by name, the ad says: “Fixing the economy is crucial, but America’s principles and Constitution are threatened by one more liberal activist vote on the Supreme Court.” The ads are the latest in a multimillion-dollar advertising campaign by the Judicial Confirmation Network to draw attention to abortion and other social issues as a way to persuade voters to back John McCain .
