Views: Celtics Star Ray Allen Saw ‘a Sea of People’

Boston Celtics shooting guard Ray Allen was in D.C. for the inauguration. “It was a sea of people there. [President Barack Obama] stood there at the mic and he was so powerful and moved the crowd. It was like all of America was moved and believed in what he was saying,” Mr. Allen said, in a phone interview. “He commanded the moment. He took his moment and he shined.” In watching the African-American man become president, “there’s a great significance because Martin Luther King spoke on the other side of the mall” in 1963, Mr. Allen said. “It was almost as if it transcended generations. They were speaking to each other, one black man to the next.” – Elizabeth Holmes (link)
